Hey, I can submit to Featured just fine, but not to other folders. Is there something I can do about that, or should I submit my stuff to Featured and let you guys sort it out?

Hey there. I'm a big Narnian fan and I'm in need of some helpful input from fans.

I'm currently working on a novella that focuses on Uncle Andrew's mysterious backstory, shedding some light on his childhood and further exploring his personal relationship with his "fairy" godmother. It also answers how he discovered the box's Atlantean origins.

I've got a rough idea for a plot, but it needs some ironing and maybe a few creative suggestions. Would anyone be interested in collaborating?

Do you have any offers yet? I like playing with backstory theories. :)

Not yet. You're the first person to reply, and I'd be more than happy to hear your ideas.

Basically, the idea came to me when I was rereading the "Magician's Nephew". The supposedly-empty house which Digory and Polly tried to access through the attic was never explored, and it is never brought up again throughout the rest of the book. It seems to just disappear. And later, Uncle Andrew mentions that his nefarious godmother, Mrs. LeFay, was closely associated with the Ketterly family back when he was younger. Since they've been living in the same household since their childhood, this leads me to suspect that the empty house next door was possibly LeFay's.

In addition, Uncle Andrew also mentions his godmother's faerie heritage and her obsession with magic. This, I suspect, is the reason why she was so infamous. She might've been seen as insane by the rest of the family. The faerie connection is never brought up again, and no one seems to question it further.

There's more to it than that, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts about it. Are there any strange details left unanswered that you noticed in the book?

I'm going to try not to let in too much cross-contamination here, because I have heard SOME ideas on this stuff before. Although the empty house connection is a new one for me! :) But one thing that stands out as kinda significant is... Isn't LeFay a surname of Morgana? Is there a possible Arthurian connection there? And we need some idea how the Dust for the rings got to Atlantis - or whether it was found separately and put into an Atlantean box. And it might be worth looking into E. Nesbit's The Bastables, since Lewis name-dropped them in the introduction and I understand that's another English children's fantasy with magical shenanigans - assuming they literally exist in the same continuity, it might give us an idea of some of the sorts of magic which are active in Narnia's Earth in London at the time. ^_^
